Sarah's bugging me to buy a DS

Postby Egaladeist » Sat Jan 03, 2009 3:26 am

yep...barely a week after Christmas and I'm already getting hit up...ever since her friend got one she's been after me to get her a Nintendo DS...and Guitar Hero chip...I told her ' maybe, if there's money for it '...because it's not just one Nintendo DS, because if I buy her one I gotta buy Shari one too. You know how that goes.

So...assuming it becomes financially viable...is it worth the money? Does anyone have one? What's it's lifespan? Any significant problems with the unit?

( she does not want a DS2 )

I'd have to say yes, it is worth the money. Games are cheap, rentable (at least at several places in the US), and a pretty good amount of fun. My cousins and nephews all have one and they take it and their favorite games wherever they go. Our Christmas dinner was rather quiet since just all the adults were talking to one another and when I went roaming to find out where the kids went, they were all downstairs in my area by the fireplace (had a nice fire going), they were all there playing on their DS' hehe! I never had a Gameboy but if I were to buy something like it, I'd go with a DS.

We got one for the Mother in law with brain training. She loves it. Father in law is also addicted now.

Very clever bit of kit. Works well. Not cheap but I think you'd get your money's worth out of it.

Try and locate refurbished ones, they are cheaper and just as good

Plus if you have a game boy you can trade it in for a used DS for almost nothing

I love em' - go tthe missus one for xmas, been brain training for the last week but she is still dumb as a frying pan...

Don't buy any games for it though - go here: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10403 buy that and then give me your email addy - I can send you a zip file with every game released until Dec 2007 for the DS lite. Just drag and drop the game to the SD card like you would do to a USB stick and play them as normal on the DS. Save a fortune.

Best add a little disclaimer - some people have had bad experiences with the site I linked too but others have not had a problem, personally I have only bought two things from it and didn't have any issues. For the sake of 10 bucks though its worth a punt.
