Ooooh ooh nuclear war

All things related to games and gaming

Well, from what I've seen and played on the game, it's best to play against some friends because then you can do alliances and not feel so bad when you might lose. I tried to play online and I got some people that apparently have been in the beta. It's all in the positioning of everything. Don't put radars on coastlines, don't spread your airbases too thin, don't attack with sub missiles if you're not sure someone's there because they'll get blasted immediately in two hits. There's a laundry list of thing to learn and it's pretty fun. Don't worry about sucking, God knows I've lost about six games in a row before I said "lemme try the computer". That's almost worse because the computer's very calculating, but at least it's not someone I don't know.

I can definitely host some games off my own line since it's business class and this game is very internet-light. Problem is, I'd be hosting around 6-9pm EST, so that's 11-2am england time. Maybe this weekend though!

Haha, nice! Bring it on, I have my nukes ready!

I loved the quotes on one review:

Defcon 5 is everyone playing in the park.

Defcon 1 is everyone throwing nukes at each other in the park.

I can get the executable file that I downloaded on the server so you, and others, can download it. That should be easier.

Hmmm I need to get a lappy. The lass is an early bedder and my blue beast is on the loud side for running at night.

The music is creepy on Defcon. Reminds me of Populous on my Amiga.

Yeah, Mel came in when I was playing it and she said "Who's crying?!" and had a look of disbelief when I told her that was the cries of a woman who's just gone through nuclear winter.

1: you don't want to overlap your radars too much, but having a bit of extra coverage near the coast is good because of fleet attacks.

2: have an airfield and a missile defense system relatively nearby the radar as to provide coverage and launch abilities for incoming missiles.

Still working on the fleets but subs off coastlines near the end after you've launched and destroyed several defensive sites and cities seems to work pretty well.

Negative. It's a single gameserver, not a dedicated box. By the way, at the end of this year, I'm switching host - 4u-servers are pretty poor ;)

I could *try* to host it from my UK flat, but I fear that the speeds may not be good enough. Vorlin has also offered to do it - but I won't be able to join at 23:00 on Saturday because of school

Oh well.. Maybe over the hols :P

Is there any way to zoom in the map or expand it? everything looks so small when I try to play the demo, course it's just the demo, so it could be limited.

Not sure about the demo, but in the full version, all you have to do is use your scroll wheel to zoom in and out.

Mouse wheel does it in the full version.
