Basic warning, I'm drunk
I've been pondering something lately, what I'm calling the Adam Complex
Rules:
1) God is perfect, omnipresent, yadiya..
2) Adam is made from God's image
So, why did Adam eat the fruit?
If he was made from God's image wouldn't he also be perfect? And thus not fall for the tempatation?
So either the image is flawed or God's not perfect
Oh, and I'm athiest

God created man in his own image, BUT gave man free will. So, the devil was able to tempt Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden fruit.
BUT
1) Adam and Eve had no sense of right or wrong. So they (and all their descendants) were punished for doing something that God considered wrong, but hadn't given them the ability to know that.
2) God is all-knowing. So he already knew what was going to happen. He let it happen anyway. Then he punished mankind for doing what he had created them to do (since he already knew what was going to happen, if he had wanted to avoid it, he could have simply tweaked a few variables

)
Conclusion: God is a massive douchebag.

I think we should differentiate between the Abrahamic God of Jews, Christians, and Muslims and every other possible concept of god...
there's a simple concept applied by Socrates when he was asked if he believed in the gods, he said ' I do ' and then turned to a pupil and said ' what else could I do, they are my ancestors '...Socrates believed that the gods were his ancestors...
Zeus was likely the founder of the first Greeks
Odin was likely the founder of the first Norsemen
Jupiter was likely the founder of the Romans
Yahweh was likely the founder of the Hebrews
etc...
and time, superstitions, and handing down and elaborating on stories orally over centuries ( telling stories was a common practice of both education and entertainment in those days ) turned these founders into gods , and their children into gods or first men...like the popular kids game ' telephone '...only over centuries...
so it is possible, looking at this from the perspective of ancestry, that Yahweh did exist, and Adam did exist, as the foundation of the first Hebrews.

Yep, that's the point. If God is all-knowing and all-loving why put them up to it?
Conclusion: God is a massive douchebag.
Couldn't agree more

Have you seen Dogma? The whole plot is based on a not dissimilar theological knot.
Tis funny and has Salma Hayek pole-dancing, chock full of win.
But there are many problems in major religions with things like this. That's because they're all made up.
Apart from the Flying Spaghetti Monster, he's real.

I've seen Dogma but it's been too long ago as I have no idea what it was about anymore.
I might go see it again now
But yeah, there are a few more.. Like this one:
- God exists.
- God is omnipotent, omniscient, and perfectly good.
- A perfectly good being would want to prevent all evils.
- An omniscient being knows every way in which evils can come into existence.
- An omnipotent being, who knows every way in which an evil can come into existence, has the power to prevent that evil from coming into existence.
- A being who knows every way in which an evil can come into existence, who is able to prevent that evil from coming into existence, and who wants to do so, would prevent the existence of that evil.
- If there exists an omnipotent, omniscient, and perfectly good being, then no evil exists.
- Evil exists (logical contradiction).

Guys - 1 thing. Man was not given free will until Cain and Able.
Reason Adam ate the fruit is cause Eve said to.
Prior to Free Will Man was nothing more than a good soldier following the last order. Adam did not have the ability to say no to Eve. (not a lot has changed)

No lusers were harmed in the creation of this Taz Zone Post.
AND I WANT TO KNOW WHY NOT!

Adam did not have the ability to say no to Eve.
Sure he did. He was just thinking with the wrong head.
