yeah, i really typoed the hell out of that...

Personally my favorite type of art is film... I think because it can not only present a perspective of space, but time as well... and really can be the antithisis to the denarration so many of us suffer through the incorporation of other's stories into our own (life story) with an attached perspective to truly expand our own. But then this prolly makes me sound like a huge dork.

that is better, sorry about that.

I used to want to be a director... actually promise not to laugh, but I have a seperate savings account with target to one day have enough money to quit my day job and try my hand at making a movie. In the mean time I stick with photography and storyboarding and studying other film makers.

cheers,

Oh, "...." was not about typos. :)

It was more a lack of words.

You like photography?

Ah... well, hopefully the good kind of loss for words.

Yeah, I enjoy photography... the films I enjoy most, like those by Ingmar Berrman where nearly every single frame could stand alone as a compelling still.

Still photography has the unique angle of being almost the artistic equivalent to stock car racing... where everyone has the same capacity to capture an image (granted there is a world of difference between an instomatic and a medium format hassie... but you know what I mean).

Sometimes I like to go to a party and just sit in a corner somewhere and shoot people... afterward I seem to have a much better idea of who to seek out for conversation. The ability to step back and look at how you see someone can reveal so much that was presen but otherwised missed from the moment.

cheers,

All the buts?

Just a lack of words. Happens a lot - to me.

This turned out to be a very surprising thread. Not everyone has answered though, and I really am interested in what kind of art moves people.

So, anyone who has not answered....should.

Does anyone associate specific music with specific art? Or....am I just way out there? I always think of B&W photographs together with Philip Glass. And "The Opening" from Glassworks...with snow.

I've always had a soft corner for photography, especially wildlife. "Capturing the moment", to use a cliche, has always seemed to me to be one of the most difficult things to do. I've been taking wildlife photos for a while now, but only I was only ever really happy with one or two of them. So I guess that's what I look for, photographs that freeze a memorable thing in time. What makes photography a great art form IMO, is that the photographer saw something that no one else did (even if hundreds of people were around at the time), so the photograph is like a piece of his/her mind, like distilled perception.

Cheers,
