Grandma got Tasered

Postby |3lack|ce » Tue Jun 09, 2009 6:07 pm

"She refused to get off the side of the road, he said to her, Ma'am, you're under arrest. She used profanity," the Constable said. He adds she got violent, and the officer used a taser on her.

And, while we're on Texas Cops.... (this next one's really state policy guys, ALL kids fighting in school get arrested with these charges, no matter the age, so it only goes to figure that outside school the same will happen)...

FLOWER MOUND, Texas -- A 10-year-old girl has been arrested and charged with assault after she and her older sister got into a fight.

Ok, For the record, NEITHER of these places is within a 3 hour drive of Podunk, so don't be lookin cross-eyed at me or our local constables... But truth to tell, and as I've always said, Give an undereducated semi-intelligent redneck a badge, a gun, and a tiny bit of authority, and watch the power-trip commence.

Un-fucking-believable. Big guy can't even handle a 72 year old lady..

That constable is a disgrace to the force, I hope they kick him out.

Really scary stuff - The cop in question claimed she became 'belligerent and physically abusive' against him, and justified his use of the taser on her. His supervisor (the Sheriff of said county) is backing him on it, so no disciplinary action will be taken.

and Asp, I *can* talk like a redneck, but only do so when dealing directly with one. You can always tell when I've fully discounted the intelligence of an individual by the shift in my speaking from regular American English to 'good ol' boy' speak.
One exception to that rule - if I'm trying to sell someone something it doesn't matter how intelligent I think they are, those y'all's and that drawl come out in force. Most people around here seem to be more comfortable with it, and outsiders tend to expect it from us; why should I disappoint them?

Yeah, that is pretty amazing... People do stupid things to cops and some cops are more stupid than the people they're arresting/etc. That bit about the 10 year old girl is f'd up though... I mean, I've heard a lot of things, but wtf? Brothers and sisters alike get in fights all the time about everything. It's part of growing up, FFS!

As for the redneck stuff, haha, yeah...I'm down here in North Augusta, SC and it's expected to use ya'll all the time. It's probably one of the only "southern" words I use and I'm pretty proud that I don't have a southern accent like the rest of my family due to me being all over God's creation from overseas to Florida for 10 years, etc. Now my sister, that's a whole different ball game. She's got enough southern accent in her for about 6 people.

Hrm. That last name's pretty familiar too..I wonder if he's akin to a former PM of yours? Sounds like something Tony'd do in his spare time.

Yeah I saw this. WTF is a 4yr old doing playing unsupervised with a 1 week old puppy.

I bet the mother was upset, those pups go for about £300-500 each.

Good publicity for Dyno-rod though.

The pup has been Christened Dyno.

When we were in Florida there were quite a few Southern accents floating around. I find a souther accent amusing, I don't know why, maybe it's proper 'cowboy speak' from watching the TV when I was a nipper.

Most of the podunkians speak with a thick cowboy accent, but there's a few of us (usually in service industries) who can turn it on and off like a water tap. It's easy to get someone to turn it on though, all you have to do is walk in, give them a big, easy grin and say "How yoo dooin?" in a drawl of your own.

I've actually been fascinated with the Scot accent ever since I learned I've some Scot ancestry. The thicker the better, although if a person speaks too quickly in it I'll get lost in the brogue and not understand what's said. I subscribe to MelodeonJohn on Youtube just to hear him speak, and I sure wish there was a lass or three who published their own vlogs.

I learned the speed and not understanding thing about Brit accents as well back in my days in port at Portsmouth. (Welsh is even more of a bitch to comprehend, even when they're sober, and heaven help us all when Liverpool enters the picture).

Considering the size of the country the accents can vary over very short distances. The cities have different accents to the surrounding countryside. MelodeonJohn that you listen to is from the East coast north of the Forth. Probably either the North of Fife or Coastal Angus but not Dundee. Not far from me TBH.

My in-laws are from Aberdeen area and speak the Doric

And this is the way my parents and grandparent speak

After living in the UK for 8 yrs as a lad, first year or 2 in Canada, no one understood a word I said, had to slow down and speak Canadian.... And my American cousins over in Flint had a harder time understanding a thing I said (used to tease them when they would say "You all" and I was the only person there... ),that's from being a Teddy Boy, and growing up as a Cockney.....wish I had of learned the rhyming variety of Cockney though...took me years to not say cor blimey, or bleeding this and bleeding that (earned me a few straps from the teachers over here...;) ) oh and Oi you....and if that wasn't bad enough, my Mom's side of the family (miners) are from North Shields or in and around Newcastle, and are a mixture of Scots and Geordie's....(McKay or pronounced McKie)... :cool3:
