U.S. is a 'parasite' on the world economy and a threat to financial markets, says Putin
The remarks from Russia - one of the world's strongest emerging markets - comes amid speculation that the struggling U.S. will this week have its AAA credit rating downgraded.

'They are living beyond their means and shifting a part of the weight of their problems to the world economy,' Putin said.

Hopefully Obama will never have to go toe-to-toe with Putin...Putin is proficient in Sambo and Judo and carries the old USSR title Master of Sport ( National Champion ). He's a bad man.

Hopefully, Obama WILL have to go toe-to-toe with Putin... Winner take all. ;)

Seriously..
Putin is a bad dude. Nevertheless, on this matter, he is correct.

While true I don't think the blame should be put on Obama. He's just trying to clean up the mess the Bush's left and now he gets railroaded for it.

I agree, only that it goes even further back....seems every generation makes a mess then passes it onto the next generation, the next generation, and so on...and all we've been doing for the last 100 years is trying to play catch-up ...

at some point though...

someone's gotta do something major to turn it around...but it probably won't happen until something really bad happens to force our hand.

Politicians generally don't do much of anything of any lasting importance until they're backed into a corner and have no choice but to do something.

IMO ;)

LMAO.

Wrong.

He's not trying to clean anything up. He hasnt done anything to solve the problems. In fact, he's done harm.
He hasnt put ONE specific proposed solution on the table. He has demonstrated ZERO leadership.
Additionally, he has significantly contributed to the mess by more than doubling the deficit with his bullsh!t bailouts for his crony banker friends.
The root problem with this guy is that he isnt an American. He doesnt want to solve the problem. He wants to dismantle our economy.

The fix is simple. You gotta balance the budget. You cant spend more than you take in. (Balanced Budget Amendment would go a long way to solve this one. Congress has proved they cant do it. So we need a law to protect us) You also gotta stimulate jobs. Instead of a bailout for bankers, he should have created a bailout for Americans. A WPA style jobs program to rebuild US infrastructure (roads, bridges tunnels, technology). In order to participate, you need to be an AMERICAN worker. Send all those H1Bs home!

Well it did happen...
S&P cut the long-term U.S. credit rating by one notch to AA-plus on concerns about the government's budget deficit and rising debt burden. The action is likely to eventually raise borrowing costs for the American government, companies and consumers.
another downgrade was possible in the next 12 to 18 months.
The move reflects the deterioration in the global economic standing of the United States, which has had a AAA credit rating from S&P since 1941
The theme running throughout S&P's analysis is the breakdown in the ability of the Democratic and Republican parties to govern effectively

So...what happens if this slide continues...what is the worst ( reasonable outcome ) that can happen?

You can't exactly do anything if the house and the senate are against you.

That's not exactly true. Bush made all those stupid tax rules that got us into this mess by "Executive Order"

YoMamma Could do the same exact thing. In fact, the 14th amendment allows Duffus boy - YoMamma; what ever you wish to call the President; the power to raise the debt celling / pay bills / manage fuel reserver, all sorts of stuff without ever having to go to the public, media or congress.

BUT as has been said in this thread. He aint' done SHIT!

Those "executive orders" aren't exact 'democratic'. It's more like a dictatorship. I'm not surprised that warmongering gorilla used them.

I used to think of myself as a pretty conservative guy but I don't feel anything in common with the republican side of things.

Hopefully all the Harry Reid types will leave and next election won't have bipartisanship with pencil neck geeks like that.
He aint' done SHIT!
Mad cause he didn't legalise pot on a national level... without this "you need a prescription" nonsense? Or are you mad because he didn't give Fortune 500's a tax break?

You are not alone. (both parties are corrupt.) The country is ripe for a new party of fiscal conservatives and social moderates.

No! People need to abolish partys.

If you want to run then do it independent - in the truest sense of the word. None of this "buddy system" approach to getting bills passed or holding the house hostage when it doesn't work out. It would force voters to stay more focused toward individual candidates and their track record.
fiscal conservatives and social moderates.
:pleasantry: Those terms are in a recorded loop and echo to the point of being inaudible. The tea party use it to drown out the "herp derp" inbreed mating calls in the audience.

These days, I'd rather look toward things completely left of what others consider left-field. The more radical the better.
