I knew RIM was F^cked

Postby Aspman » Fri Sep 20, 2013 10:40 pm

Blackberry has announced it is planning to cut 4,500 jobs, or 40% of its worldwide workforce, in an attempt to staunch huge losses.

The smartphone maker said it anticipated a loss of as much as $995m (£621m) when it reports its second-quarter earnings next week.

Shares in the firm plummeted 20% after briefly being halted following the announcement.

They've got no USP now. Apple and Android have mopped up the user market.

Samsung is moving in the government high assurance stuff and Microsoft is gaining more traction through Nokia. Now everyone is looking at RIM and thinking "Just WTF are you for?".
A £600 Z30 handset is hardly going to set the world alight for RIM now.

anything now will be too little too late

they were greedy and deaf to requests when people in the enterprise HAD to use BB and associate it to Exchange
and now they are reaping the whirlwind

but, as per feckin usual, the top guys will move onto other equally lucrative positions
and the muppets at the coalface are doomed

Agreed. And the poor saps in the layoff pool get squat.

Jayne: Testing. Testing. Captain, can you hear me?
Mal: I'm standing right here.
Jayne: You're coming through good and loud.
Mal: 'Cause I'm standing right here.
