It's official "Global Warming"

Well if you didn't believe it before, this must surely change your minds...
Climate resets 'Doomsday Clock'

Experts assessing the dangers posed to civilisation have added climate change to the prospect of nuclear annihilation as the greatest threats to humankind.

As a result, the group has moved the minute hand on its famous "Doomsday Clock" two minutes closer to midnight.

The concept timepiece, devised by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, now stands at five minutes to the hour.

The clock was first featured by the magazine 60 years ago, shortly after the US dropped its A-bombs on Japan.

Not since the darkest days of the Cold War has the Bulletin, which covers global security issues, felt the need to place the minute hand so close to midnight.

Well...it's obvious that the climate is changing...it's Jan 17th and no snow on the ground...only two days of light snow this winter so far...

when I was a kid the first snowfall would be around Halloween like clockwork.

And they're predicting the hottest summer ever in recorded time.

But...but...but...:D

it's hard to say this wouldn't have happened regardless..we may be responsible for speeding things up...but it may eventually have happened anyways. ;)

Not to intentionally make any religious observation here but...I generally find that in legends, myths, etc...there usually is some underlining truth or fact hidden amongst the debris...

different religions and cultures have had a flood story...not only Jews/Christians but Egyptians, Greeks, etc...and on many occasions that story contains a prediction of the world being destroyed by flood then fire...

if global warming continues we could see mass food shortages resulting from fires and arid conditions...an increase in forest fires resulting...etc...

I hate it with a passion, this global warming. I long for a true winter, where now all we have is warm days of 12 degrees celsius and a annoying drizzle all day.

No cold, no freezing and no snow ... grrrrr

Yeah we only just got some snow yesterday, course the temps are about normal today minus 30 celsius with the wind..brrrrr...

No I was just struck about the Doomsday clock angle to the story, it used to be Nuclear Armageddon, but now it's twisters and hurricanes, so Mother Nature is going to do us in before Iran? jk

Being Aussie, I have a tendancy to love summer over winter.

Having said that I much prefer not to get sunburnt

We've got heavy snow today. First time this winter.

Our snow is finally melting off, only to refreeze at night. Temps are finally in the 20's fahrenheit...just a bit more comfortable than -4f with wind...

And if this global warming thing is true, it'll just mean more people will show up to the pool I lifeguard this summer...though to be honest I'm looking for an internship to get out of this area...it's boring here when my classmates move home for the summer...

As Eg said, it was probably going to happen anyway, but we're almost certainly speeding it up. To be honest, I'd rather my children have a planet to live in than enjoy myself now and destroy the environment.

Perhaps you'd like to see your share of emissions on the next flight you take: http://www.chooseclimate.org/flying/mf.html

It's warm here now 10-13C. Not toasty but not bad for January.

So We're concerned about Global Warming are we?

Is the weather we are experiencing a result of global warming or just part of the regular cycle of the planet?
So what are we doing to help starve off the effects?
Impossible do you say?.. Why?
Is what we read and hear about regarding Global Warming Science or just corp media hype?
Undies is or isn't a tree hugger...?
does Undies really care?

OK I think I was either in fifth or sixth grade when I learned that the earth warms and cools in cycles. I think it was earth science or just science class. Not a lot of detail there, of course, but enough to think that people analyze too much. And if corporations are causing the weather to get warmer... FINE I hate SNOW!

What's that line at the end of ice age? "Ice age, this is getting a little old, you know what we could use - some global warming"
