Ex-Googlers new search engine starts today

Anna Patterson's last Internet search engine was so impressive that industry leader Google Inc. bought the technology in 2004 to upgrade its own system.

She believes her latest invention is even more valuable - only this time it's not for sale.

I like the possible reasons it couldn't find it; Nope all words are spelt correctly, TAZ zone is all over Google often on page one, and there are only two freakin words... they missed out number four: "Our search engine is shit and has no idea what you are trying to find. Please try Google.com"

It slow too.

Think I will stick to Google - at least I can pronounce Google.

It can't even find itself:

Although I do like the way it displays the results; even it the page did take over as minute to load...

LOL Search cuil and there is no result for "Search Engine"

Do a search on "Search Engine" Cuil not in the results.

WTF is doing the indexing?

For starters, Cuil's search index spans 120 billion Web pages.

Patterson believes that's at least three times the size of Google's index, although there is no way to know for certain. Google stopped publicly quantifying its index's breadth nearly three years ago when the catalog spanned 8.2 billion Web pages.
 But it can't find the TAZ ZONE.....I seriously doubt the business aptitude of anyone dumb enough to directly challange Google in the search engine business.....especially with a poo search engine like that.

This is ironic too:

Do a search for Cuil on the actual Cuil site and they are not in the top 10 hits returned......do a search for Cuil on Google and the Cuil search engine is at numbers one and two:

How ironic.

Ok, maybe it's not good yet, but I like the look of it, looks slick :) I know, looking slick is not important if you can't provide the goods, but give it time. I'm sure Google didn't work like it does now when it started out.

Indexing the www does take a long time, it's not like it's a local hard drive :)

I noticed this to, and I'm not experiencing any slowdown ... I quite like the results page, saves from having to open them to see what's on them mostly. I'll be trying out some, but will keep Google as the main search engine, for now ;)

Yeah, I do like the results pages. It appears to indiex the oage content and rely on that, it alos pulls pictures/logos off the actual pages and displays them in the search results - which is quite useful.

It would still take something very significant to move me away from Google though.
