As long as it's still new, it will be sub par to Google, but once it's getting more people exited, that's when the scripts (to adjust the layout of the page ala Greasemonkey) will come around making it more interesting.

Google will be number one for a long time coming, being it's o easy to use in scripts and such ;)

Hi,

(Haven't posted here in a long time. If you have forgotten me I used to be preacherman481 at AO-- err, actually I still am).

From what I understand, one of the selling points of Cuil is supposed to be increased privacy. They don't use cookies or anything like that to track who asks for what. It will probably get better in time. Although, it will probably be hard to get people to switch if Google works for them. Microsoft has found that out.

Hey, welcome back ... You touched a point I was also thinking about, it doesn't have any advertising does it ? As far as I could tell it doesn't, also, if they are so into privacy I bet we also don't have that pesky google-analytics shit that's always invading our privacy ... Which in my opinion is a good thing (I block it as much as I can anyway)

As I said before, it will get better, and more used, but defeating Google ... hmmm, they'll have to bring some heavy artillery for that, and also provide the same, or better, options for searching then google (read pen-testing, hacking thingies)

Well...I'm sure that when Google first popped up Yahoo thought there was nothing to worry about...and when Yahoo popped up AltaVista thought it had nothing to worry about...

sooner or later there comes the giant killer...

maybe not this one but eventually a David comes along to kill the Giant.

The best thing Google has going for it isn't it's search engine it is the way they treat their staff and customers...it's a very likable Company...that likability breeds loyalty and that is something that is going to be very hard for upstarts to compete with.

Yeah, thats a good point - they do present a very good image.

Personaly I like them as they are one of the few, if not the only, company with the will and ability to tackle Microsoft and win in quite a few areas.

It#s good to see someomne competing with MS who they can't afford to buy out :)

I should imagine that sooner or later Cuil willl have advertising and some sort of tracking for search quiries and all that stuff - they are the only ways a search engine can make money really...and given that the creators have invested 30 million into it, I should expect they will want it back sooner or later...

LMAO - all it will take is for a 10 year old girl to search for free willy and she will be inundated with free porn images :)

LMAO... classic... it does amaze me... the lengths people (and politicians for that matter) go to, to explain things:

School for BS speak:
Explain that what happened was actually what was meant to happen, but that it wasn't your fault that what was meant to happen was wrong!

School for normal speak:
Yeah, we fucked up but it's fixed now!

We don't need another google, one is enough.
cuil - retarded name. Fabricated results with "fictional" magic indexing engine.
