iPhone OS 4.0

Post: # 134517Post rapier57

The new OS for the iPhone, iPod and iPad will be out in June and will feature multi-tasking, of a sort, with a docking bar for active apps. Other items include encryption APIs, so developers can opt to encrypt data. The SDK is available now.

My iPhone 3G won't be able to do a lot of the new stuff, like multi-task, but will benefit with encryption and some of the other things. Of course, there is also a new iPhone on the horizon.

Too much good stuff.

Just got myself a brand spanking new T-Mobile G2/HTC Hero and I was impressed by it. Of course, being a geek, I just had to root my phone and install a custom ROM :D. Once I did that, it's basically turned into a Nexus One or HTC Desire with a slower processor. Me happy :).

I've never been much of a phone geek. I think I'd really like a Sonim X3. A phone you could beat someone to death with and still use to phone for a van.

I've got a beat up Nokia 6130. Scratched to hell, camera lens is cracked and the buttons are worn. Battery still lasts 2 weeks on a single charge.

Edit:

Now you can have Windows 3.1 on your Android phone

Windows 3.1 might be utterly useless, but it would be nice to be able to run old DOS programs. There isn't a working DOS emulator for touchscreen Android phones though, aDosBox requires a physical keyboard :?

I love my droid. I was in a hotel meeting room with 100 people last week. It took 15 minutes to scan all laptops (ports 0 - 1024) and the hotel network. Even saved everything to a .csv file

very un intrusive.

csv file loaded into my laptop (nmap) to play with the interesting discoveries.

nice toy
phone quality is excellent.

I wonder what Cisco has to say about that.

They've licensed the name from Cisco...

I thought that sounded a bit funny, when I heard it. Then, Juniper has a similar tradename for its hardware OS. We'll see if this causes a dust-up.

Kinda hard typing while on the bus. And, then I just lost my signal, so I had to wait to post.

I seriously doubt that. Do you have any inside info on this?

JunOS, which is basically a stripped down customized version of FreeBSD 4.x :good:

Incidently, Cisco's IOS is also based on FreeBSD (an old 2.x version). But then again, so is OS-X (fbsd 5.x) and as a consequence iPhone OS

BSD rules the world :cool3:
