Et tu, Neiman Marcus?

Turns out, Neiman Marcus was hit with a similar credit card breach over the holidays. They just didn't want to mess up the holiday shopping to let folks know. It discovered the attack in mid-December.

Of course, Brian Krebs has the dirt:

Seems that Target and Neiman Marcus may not be the only ones hit. More will come, I am sure. Keep tabs on your card activity if you did any shopping in the holidays.

But, if you were a crook, and could hack a store's credit card transactions, would you go for Target or Neiman Marcus customers???

Absolutely! A crook can get anywhere from $20 - $80 USD for each account. Card Number, Name, Pin, Email address. The more information on the account the more valuable it is. Also, there are plenty of organizations that guarantee the accounts to be active for a certain time period or number of uses.

But if I had 10 million accounts - I'd sell them all for $5 and no guarantee. That's 5 Million bucks for me and some one else's problem.

the sheer scale and success of the thefts has been its own worst enemy in a way, as prices have tumbled from $80 for a decent account to $5 for a group of them
was reading it on Register somewhere recently
bad sign when the only 'good' news is that the breach is worse less because so many have been taken :?
