I QUIT!

Postby dinowuff » Tue Oct 05, 2010 2:24 pm

OK Friday, October 8, 2010 Anyone who wishes to quit smoking with me here's the deal.

Through out the day, when I want a smoke, I'll post here instead of lighting one up.

I will refer to the cancer sticks as Fags.

If enough people quit, this may become a NSFW thread - that's OK.

If I fail, I will most likely start shooting Heroin since I'm told it's easier to quit Heroin than Tobacco.

Well I wish everyone good luck!

You will feel better...eventually.

I quit 3 years ago for the last time.....and Dino may I suggest smoking pot instead of heroin.....that is what helped me over the intense cravings I had when I drank alcohol .......I would just get so wasted I would pass out...hence not smoke cigs errr fags..heheheheheh <jk>

Although with the archaic laws down there in the US...you probably get less jail time for heroin

What do you mean archaic laws? U.S. laws aren't archaic, their brand new! Every time someone goes to court, a new and improved law is applied (Depending on race, age, religion and sexual orientation) We're Progressive.

Now get off the living room floor and go pay your taxes! *hows that for an inside joke*

As far as i know.... myself, Debs, and Ice are in it with you dino.

Glad you decided to join in and start a public thread...me thinks this could get more interestin' than the drunk thread if we don't all give up three hours after we start.

A little background on my smoking....I remember when Doctors walked around the hospital with cigs hanging out of their mouths, when City buses had ashtrays...when I started I don't think there was anywhere you couldn't smoke except someplace highly combustible.

Everyone smoked. We weren't inundated everyday with the media blitz on how bad smoking is, or no smoking signs, or reformed smoker rants, or warnings, etc...smoking was almost an expectation.

So...when I started there were no ' stop, don't do this ' warning signs flashing all around me.

I'm not from the generation that chose to ignore the warnings, I'm from the generation that didn't even get the memo on warnings.

That was about 40 years ago. By the time I was 12 I was a pack a day smoker. Been smoking two or more packs a day for the last 20 years. I estimate I've spent approximately $43,700 on smoking ( cigs, cigars, pipes, cigar-cigs, etc... ) during those 40 years.

For some people putting the fag money in a jar is a big incentive. Work out what you'll have in 6 months and think of what you would spend it on. Holiday, new clothes, hookers etc etc. Human are goal orientated so give yourself a goal.

You'll probably want to decorate if you quit. If you smoke indoors your house will start to smell of stale smoke to you after a bit. As will your car, clothes, pets and everything else you've smoked around.

Get something to put in your hands other than a fag. As said patches etc will deal with the nicotine craving but your brain will still look for the ritual. So makes sure you've something to fiddle with other than your crotch. Get a plastic fag if it'll help.

A lot of people chew on tooth picks all day. Seems to help them. You'll run the risk of looking pretty redneck though.

yeap the fag money is an incentive for sure...fags are 10.00 a pack here.. thats for designer fags of course....you can get cheap fags but the smell and taste awful and just give you a headache

I chewed alot of gum and hard candies...and yeah gained 20 pounds...have since lost it.

I did curb the drinking for a bit....and stopped hanging with people that smoked...that helped alot.

Visited a friend a couple of weeks ago who smokes in her house.....and had to leave early cause it was REALLY bothering me...never did before. It wasnt bothering me making me wanna smoke...it was making me physically ill.....never did that before???

You will feel SOOOOOOOO much better....eventually

Good luck to you all :good:

I'm in, Dino. I've been a "chipper" for years, though I quit smoking entirely for a year back in 05-06. Yeah, quitting pain meds was easier. Never had the heroin habit though.

We got a new moon tomorrow morning. A good time to quit.

I'm definitely still in!! Just smoked my last one at noon EST. :galdancin: So far so good. Of course it's been 18 minutes. It may have been better to take into consideration that this is Monday morning for me, but I'll fight through it.

When I went to lunch on Wednesday, I had a little over a Half a pack. I decided not to buy another and see how long they would last.

I have two fags left. They are in the car out in the back parking lot. Urge isn't strong enough for me to walk all the way out there.

Be advised I do feel like stomping on small, furry animals. I haven't has a fag since 6:30 this morning. (fag - that's funny as hell) smoking a fag over here would equate to killing or blowing a male homosexual.
