OK MAJOR LOSS OF DATA!

You all know the drill. You spend more time in meetings, talking about the event, steps to recover, and status updates.

So I'm pretty much replacing hardware as needed and restoring VM's and a few terabytes of data.

In comes the Help Desk person stating that they have escalated a HD Ticket because some user, that certainly didn't read any of the 20+ emails that have been sent out, called to say that cannot access their PowerPoint presentation.

Help Desk person asked me if I could stop what I'm doing and take a look to see what happened to the PowerPoint file.

OMG
OK I had to snatch the roles (Ntdsutil.exe) transfer to the only DC I had left - DNS sucked had to run adprep.exe before running dcpromo on the new DC. BACKUPEXEC SUCKS! had to catalog 2.8 TB data and restore. FUC!@#G Print server. DNS AGAIN. G*& DA&^ Connections between DC's - Shit! More registry entries.

Oh and YEA! Some dipsh%t asked about his excel spread sheet. (I remembered to dig the hole first)

DID I MENTION THE FUC&*%G MEETINGS? CEO, CFO, Chief in charge of nothing - but is well paid, Want to know when they can access "Debbie does Dallis" on Porn Tube

OH YEA AND REALLY. Is the FUCK&&$ Printer really MISSION CRITICAL? Fuck Heads!

GOD DAMN NETWORK ATE ITSELF BECAUSE SOME DEITY DIVIDED BY ZERO ("Q" I'm gonna kick your ass) - I RESTORE THE ENTIRE FUCKING THING IN LESS THAN 40 HOURS AND I DIDN'T DO MY JOB?

I've posted the wood chipper and thrown in a few bags of lime for you.
Also put in some hemp rope coz that stuff doesn't hang around for years like that troublesome nylon.

There is one little thing which really annoys me. I've been using computers on and off for about 15 years.....I think that's right. Win95 didn't exist yet and I know what a Pine editor is. Anyway, the first real computer I owned I got for free...before that I used a computer lab computer. It was a good thing the first one was free. Anyway I am straying from the subject which is actually tech support. In my view, very few tech support peopleactually know their @#%^*! from their @#$*&*%!! and I used to be ignorant enough to believe they did. There ought to be a penalty for any tech support person who gives out wrong information. That caused some massive headaches :( Eventually, I discovered I'd actually figured out how to fix nearly 100% of my software woes alone. The only puzzle I've never been able to unpuzzle is how to set up a network of any sort between two computers. And, I believe I still do okay for someone who dropped out of the only computer class I ever enrolled in.I dropped the class within 30 minutes after leaving the classroom. So,in conclusion, I have this one big question: If they, the supposed tech support, don't know anymore than I know, why do they even exist?? :?

I'm reading a research paper on folk knowledge surrounding malware and security software. I have a lot to get through on it, but I think it may have some interesting application in this area. I'll try to post up the link to it when I get a chance.
