testing post flood limit

The place to kick back, relax, have a few cold ones, and grill a few on the BBQ

The pattern in the past has been Friday night (my time) through Sunday, 'cause they figured nobody was lookin'!

Bet they show up tomorrow.
Rapier57.

Jayne: Testing. Testing. Captain, can you hear me?
Mal: I'm standing right here.
Jayne: You're coming through good and loud.
Mal: 'Cause I'm standing right here.

Nope, last night. Cleaned up a lot of crap. Luckily most post needed to be approved before they showed up. Banned a whole bunch of spammers (the same ones that fill out everything).

JEEZ
lot of posts need to be allowed in admin
all shite
but all have links crippled :P :)

so it may well be we have figured out how to do this, as now it doesn't matter if they DO get in, as they can no longer put in links anywhere
neither can we  but we can always put in url minus the ww bit

so, any votes for letting 'em in
or keep it as is for a while

we had a shit load of the crap appear, but it all needs to be approved before it goes publicand before it gets approved, the word censor doesnt work, so if you hover over link, and it appeears to be good, dont worry, it will feck up once it got through :)

sorry Dino, will check your account specifically
but the flood limit is set to 2 mins
just to try and slow the spam accounts down before someone gets here to cull them

I thought this was already on? I think this will keep most of the crap out. Pretty much every spammer signs up with a fake email account. By forcing an email confirmation we at least have a working email address to spam them on.

I 'think' it is on
and for now all new account posts go into moderation, so they need to be approved before they go live too

Yes, that seems to help. I don't think we're getting nearly as much crap as at the beginning of the year. At the very least the crap doesn't show up on the board :good:

Alright, changed a few settings. There's a setting in the Newly registered group to turn off URL processing. I turned that off. Hopefully any spam that comes through won't have a clickable link anymore. Accounts are 'stuck' in Newly registered until the first 10 posts.

All of the inactive accounts can be deleted. They're accounts that signed up but never clicked on the acceptance email. If they haven't done so within a day I say nuke it.
