War Thunder

Free-t0-play MMO WW2 airplane / dog fighting sim.

I had a go at it the other day 6Gb download if your on a limit btw. Looks rather gorgeous tbh.

Only had time for a quick play and one battle but it looks promising. Obviously it touting paid-for extras but it might be a laugh without them

My username is the same as here if you have a go. Taz Squadron?

I'll try to remember to 'Friend / recruit' whatever it is tonight if I get a chance.

I had another pop last night, it's a lot of fun. You start off in pretty shitty bi-planes for the most part but you get some initial spends by doing the tuts. There are a few guys going around who have paid and are tanking everyone with Me109s etc but most people are in the same junkers so it's still good but more like WW1 than 2. I was having a good time strafing ground targets.

Can't see how to make up permanent squads. Have tried inviting Foxxy.

Tried Rapier but it didn't find him. I think I'm restricted to the EU servers.

I'll check when next on, just running backups at present

but have been looking through youtube - I might be a little less advanced than some of them  and so far bomber has been most fun
mainly cos you get to swap between seats, and bomb aimer was a blast in tutorial - I DO imagine that in the real play scenarios that fighters will be around to bite yo ass though

when they DO get army / navy set up running, I too would like to be part of a decent sized tank squad, but for me Panther all the way

I've not done much bombing in game yet. Most games are the "Random battle" and really dogfighting with some ground targets.

I've added Foxxy as a 'Friend'

Still can't find Rapier
