Another idiotic political move -

Postby |3lack|ce » Sun Sep 12, 2010 4:28 am

This subject may be a bit touchy to y'all since I'm sure there's a Muslim or two out there reading these posts.

ERGO, before I make the actual rant, please be advised that I don't condone anything which is offensive to any religion, and it is not my intent to be offensive here.

That having been said, let's have at it and discuss the 1000lb elephant in the room shall we?

Unless you have been living underneath a rock these past 9 years, you all know the 9/11 story. A lot of good people died that day, all of them heroes, but that's not why I'm posting this....

This is: In the past couple of weeks leading up to today there has been a HUGE media stir-up of the standard issue bullshit they try to feed us on a regular basis. First it was the ongoing controversy of a Mosque near ground zero (it's a couple blocks away), and then it was a (very stupid, attention seeking) preacher in Florida who threatened to burn the Koran today and received worldwide admonishment for his threat.

[RANT]
Now, let's look at this in a "I'm American, and this is why this country was made in the first place" light, shall we?

First the Mosque.
I don't know about y'all, but on MY Statue of Liberty it reads "Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses...". This country was founded on that premise - no matter who you were, or where you came from, or who or how you worshipped, you were welcome here. Personally, given that viewpoint, I don't care if they include a mosque into the new towers they are erecting directly upon ground zero. Quite frankly, it'd be quite a testament to the religious tolerance upon which the United States were founded if they did. I'm glad it fell out of attention in the national media when the moronic preacher came along...

Speaking of Preachers, it's HIS turn...
This guy should be nominated for the Darwin award for his idiocy. He has not only placed himself, but his entire family and his entire congregation in jeopardy merely by making such a threat to the extremists. Personally, if they blow him up, the terrorists would be making the entire world a smarter place in which to live - I just hope they don't accidentally kill any of us other infidels in the process. To the preacher, and anyone else considering heinous acts against another religion, country, duck, squirrel, or llama out there, take this advice: DON'T TELL THE GODDAMNED MEDIA, WE DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT! Frankly, I don't care if Preacherboy burns a stack of Korans, Bibles, Flags, Squirrels, Ducks, or Llamas, or even his congregation for that matter, right up until it garners national media attention - THEN it becomes everyone's business. This screaming flaming pooftard should be strung up by his testicles, then burned - right along with his (now tainted because he touched it) copy of the Koran.

Guys, it's not the Muslims out there (although as a culture from my point of view they can be a bit irritating with those funky songs and announcements they insist on playing publicly from loudspeakers) who are the problem. It is the MUSLIM EXTREMISTS. I deal with peace loving Muslims every day, converse with them, and even have several who I count among my friends. My boss is a Hindi, and I have another very good friend who happens to be a Bhuddist. NONE OF US RUN AROUND KILLING EACH OTHER DUE TO OUR RELIGIONS! Get the picture?

So, this 9/11 (which is just about over), do yourself a favor. Remember the dead and feel sympathy for their families. Do this out of respect. Remember the scar upon our great nation, and vow to do all within your power to bloody well never let it happen again. Finally, go out, enjoy a wonderful afternoon bbq with the family - burn a preacher if you must, but don't broadcast it to the world eh?

[/rant]

Peace, Love, Dope.

Freedom of Speech
Freedom of Action
Freedom of Religion

Whatever label you want to put on it, the Preacher has the lawful right to perform whatever speech, action or religious practice he so desires. The problem with the free media is that they treat this as if the Preacher is anything but plain, flat-out, brain-dead, STUPID.

Agree with you, |ceman!

It wasn't all that long ago that the media was much more responsible. Well, as a member of it, it seemed to me that was the case, anyway. Now, they seem to find just any little thing that will incite and inflame and blow it out of proportion.

**climbs back onto his soapbox yet again**

This morning's front page headline of the Podunk Newspaper said it all. "9/11 Celebrations marred with Protests."

[RANT] Well WTF did you expect, media people? With this giant scandal you've created over the preacherman, OF COURSE they're going to be burning flags all over Afghanistan, not to mention attacking the troops we have there.

What the media has done is create a much more hostile situation for our troops, and endangered the lives of a specific moron as well as innocent civilians who surround him. I think our media has forgotten the old adage "the pen is mightier than the sword." I also agree completely that media used to be much more responsible than it is now - these days it seems that any old crap they want to dig up is fine to print, no matter whom it hurts.

To the good side, at least the editorial cartoon agreed with me - it depicted a guy lighting a giant pile of Qurans, using a US Flag as the torch to do so, and captioned with "let's just offend everyone". Even their own people realize what the media is doing, yet nobody has the testicular fortitude to put a halt to it. Dirty laundry sells newspapers I guess...and in this age of information society and instant electronic news, anything that sells those obsolete-when-printed rags is good for them.

I still want to burn the preacher, and his Quran, and a stack of reporters along with them...problem is the reporters are too soggy from wallowing in all the nation's filth.

He was just another eejit who wanted to get his face known. He's done that, some two-bit preacher from Florida has appeared on international news around the world.

He's also made the US look like a intolerant warmongering state. Again.

It would be great if people could grasp the fact that if a bunch of unwashed tribesmen burn a US (or UK) flag (that has probably been given to them by a member of the press or a Pakistani intelligence double agent, I mean FFS half of these tribesmen wouldn't know what the US flag looks like).

Er where was I..oh yes... just because some bearded Afghan burns a flag doesn't mean we have to burn one too. Take the high road dude, walk a nobler path, be the bigger man.
