Just as a curiousity...
couldn't you hide a tank with ' reflective panels ' that reflect the terrain around them? Wouldn't that be better than normal camouflage?

It only works if what is reflected in the mirror also looks like what is behind the mirror. They're working on something a bit more sophisticated now with metamaterials. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 092450.htm But I think they're only up to bending radio waves around small objects. Yeh but from the air, or a distance, that wouldn't be so apparent would it? It wouldn't be a solution but it might give you that extra critical few minutes to respond?
