Hey, the manual did NOT mention that I needed to use the standoffs!

No it isn't a joke.

I spent close to an hour working it out with him on MSN, my mate hit upon the idea it could be a shortcircuit (he had that issue with an Asus when it was on standoffs) and it turned out after talking to J_K about short circuiting parts that he didn't use any standoffs......

LOL

Yer all a bunch of turds! :D

It's not MY fault... The manual DID NOT (I repeat, DID NOT) say that I needed to use the standoffs!

So I now have an ASUS mobo which OcUK is unwilling to take back, because I threw the damn box away. Great.
That means I have to buy another one (the same), use that, shove the broken one in its box, send it back, and sell the replacement one :P

To be fair... I don't use the standoffs either. I tend to buy everything OEM so the boards do't come with the standoffs, and I'm not buying them.

I just use a piece of butcher paper... works fine. (the screw holes on every case I've ever used are slightly elevated)

Seriously... don't buckle to the powerful standoff lobbies... with their fast boats and loose women... actually...

cheers,

Aha! You see, I didn't need standoffs :D Fine, I needed something there instead... But I'm still going to blame the manual for that ;)

What annoyed me when building the PC was the fact that I had to screw four (fairly large) screws into the plastic of the fans! That took me ages, and my hands were blistered at the end of it. Why did they have to make it so damn complicated, instead of making me screw into the plastic? Sure, there were already four small holes to guide me, but I had to make them larger to fit the screws... So, I left the fans outside the box and used two of the four screws to make the holes larger (for each fan). That took ages as well. I almost completely disfigured the top of the screws by doing this, which wouldn't have allowed me to screw them into the fan to attach them to the box after all my hard work  *grumble*

Ah the beauties of owning a variable speed cordless drill!

I know exactly what you mean, when i bought two case fans i had to do just that, however with the above tool it took me minutes and absolutely no effort!
