Old friend Spaf interviewed on Dark Reading:

Hard to believe that was 25 years ago. Morris still in prison. Read what Spaf has to say about it all. Great stuff.

Wow very interesting....Didn't know that windows has less holes in it than linux! I guess being highly targeted makes them step up their game!

always been that way since MS blasted into the stratospherechaosclown wrote:Wow very interesting....Didn't know that windows has less holes in it than linux! I guess being highly targeted makes them step up their game!
wasn't worthwhile working an attack vector for less than 5% of the planets PC population
everyone has similar levels of 'holes' and weaknesses, but MS were top dog % wise
not even fanbois can argue that - although TBH they probably will

but android cell phones are looking VERY tempting right now ..................

Re: Morris Worm of 25 years ago
Keep in mind that the Morris Worm was written to take exploit vulnerabilities in UNIX, which, at the time, was the ubiquitous OS for mainframe systems. Here's a rundown on what it was and what it was for:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris_worm
UNIX is the model after which Linux was designed, when it first came out. It took all of a 5.25 floppy disk (400kb) back in 1991. I had one of the original installs then. Android, today, is grown from the core of later Linux OS kernels (much as Google will try to say it is their own work and doesn't violate license). There are fundamental issues with the Linux kernel and known bugs. Open source being what it is and Torvald's iron grip on the kernel code, fat chance ever getting the kernel fixed. Since Android shares the same kernel, I'd be leery of anything based on it.
Just sayin'!
