I'm not naming names. It's not Zone Alarm though :)I'm back in in 2 min, ran out to 'drain the main vein' and get more coffee.

The chap is very good and he's skipping through a bit but you don't half feel a bit thick when he asks you to define what a port is just when me brain steps out for a fag.

More coffee and back in......

Ah, no test thank goodness.

This is just so as I can speak with the firewall admins and understand what they are saying.

Got a buffet lunch out of which was nice. :coffee:

Firewall installation this afternoon, yeay

Last time I was in a firewall course, there were two "IT Managers" that needed basic netwroking explained to them. After three, of the five days, it was apparent that the two guys weren't going to "get it".

It was so bad that not only did they not know the difference between routing and switching, the whole - how did they put it... "this whole packet thing is confusing" but simple concepts were beyond them. The instructor put them in a special class and the last two days was a crash course -pardon the pun

I'm no that bad I hope. We've been through the basic stuff. It's a little of a sales pitch (not too much cos we've been customers for years), the guy is talking up some of the features of the firewall. Everytime he mentions "it does this" or "it has this feature", I keep thinking of Catch's posts and that any feature or service on the box increases it's risk of being compromised.

We've been through a few things I was a bit vaugue on. Some of it, due to particular companies terminology for certain things which can get confusing.

We start configuring it next. Thats about 3 of the 4".

Every day is a school day.

they're quite good for training here, I've been offered CEH as well this year but I didn't know how useful it would be.
