(CNN) -- Author Arthur C. Clarke, whose science fiction and non-fiction works ranged from the script for "2001: A Space Odyssey" to an early proposal for communications satellites, has died at age 90, associates have said.

Yep, the best generation of writers are starting to pass on..

There are good ones today, but not with the same foresight as Clarke.

... Or talent and skill as Clarke, Asimov, RAH, or the sheer egotism and impact of Ellison (still living). Or the imagination and poetry of Bradbury (still living).

Or, the endlessness of Robert Jourdan.

Or, the just plain fun of the Stainless Steel Rat, Harry Harrison (still living).

Folks, we're gonna lose more. The still living mentioned above have been around a long time.

Yeah, me too. I have a first edition of Something Wicked This Way Comes. One of my favorites.

I liked Ellison's TV show, too, sometimes. Granted, the dude is a flaming a**hole most of the time. You have to give him credit for being a genius at the short story. He signed my hardbound copy of Shatterday.
