Put this in political even though it's more a commentary than anything, with political overtones.

First they told us to wear a mask, OK fine ( I wear a shield ), then...
they told us to get shots, OK fine went and got the shots, then...
they told us we need to get proof we've had the shots in order to go most places, OK fine went through the process to get proof sent to me from our beloved federal government, now...
they're telling us that official government papers is not enough we need one of those codex thingys, OK fine I'll call, wait the hour or so on the phone, and get it mailed to me...

but...in all honesty...I am almost at the point that I'm ready to just throw in the towel, organize a revolt, tell the government exactly what they can do with these so called preventative measures, and put the whole matter in the capable hands of nature...which I'm starting to believe we should have done from the beginning and maybe we'd all be done with this

nature would take some, others would recover and build a natural immunity, others would build that immunity without ever getting sick, variant strains would be less likely to have the effect they currently do, all with having done nothing at all...just letting nature do what it does

my question is...

will all the measures we put in place, have we saved anyone?

I'm starting to believe we haven't. If we had done nothing the same amount of people likely would have died, the survivors would be stronger to fight all the variants probably preventing more deaths, and the situation would have resolved itself by now.

but in the way of going about herd immunity ? remember we had smallpox / polio for 00's of years, it took vaccinations to get us through it all
and if you check up on the infection rate / death rate for smallpox, it is similar to what we have today for Covid

we just need to carry on as we are doing, it will pass, we are going to lose some, and in the US they seem determined to lose a LOT ffs
but IMHO, it will be the next flu, something we will learn to live with, and that a certain % of the population will require annual jabs for too
